Alexu and The Voices Inside is an Indie Rock band from Brașov, Romania. Initially, the music project started as a ‘one-man-show’ with Alexu writing music and using looping pedals between 2016 - 2020. After the pandemic year, lots of things needed some reconsidering, therefore the band stated their first official announcement as a group at the beginning of 2021. It all started in the summer of 2016, where Alexu confesses that he got the courage to write his own lyrics and melodies, after obsessively listening to Damien Rice's debut album, "O". His first EP, '23 minutes of Fame' was released in June 2017, when opening for the band 'The Veils' in Expirat, Bucharest. He signed up for Balcony TV and Sofar Sounds performances, raising to play live shows on local and national radio stations. One year later he released his second EP, "Luminescence" leading to a lot of activity in the indie underground scene, playing lots of gigs in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Brașov, also opening for most of his favourite bands in Romania. 2019 started with the release of the single "Everlearn", which premiered on Radio Guerrilla and the music video that topped the Indie Charts on Music Channel Romania. The single was followed by the soulful duet "Forevermore" alongside Teodora Opriși, one of the collaborations that hits close to his heart. After a full year of gigs and playing small festivals, Alexu got in the studio to record his new upcoming album ‘The Struggle of Living Pure at Heart’. Initially postponed due to COVID times, the album was released on 5th of August 2020. Starting 2021, an official announcement was made where the music project will shift now from an one-man-show into a full-band. Alongside Sergiu Crișan on drums, Cătălin Ciolan on bass guitar, Anca Cornelia Diaconu on piano, Bogdan Ioniță on electric guitar and Alexu Spătaru on vocals, acoustic guitar and looping. The band is expecting to release two live sessions recorded in winter and of course, eager to play live for good times ahead.
