iarba Fiarelor is a Transylvanian Folk band. By fusing the acoustic sound with the Transylvanian speech, iarba Fiarelorupdates the ubiquitous folk musical themes and motifs inside the Carpathian arch. The band uses guitar, bass anddrums in an unconventional manner. The instruments combine traditional chords and percussion elements withsounds from the surrounding world to render the atmosphere of each musical composition.
The band iarba Fiarelor was launched on June 15, 2018, at the Museum ofComparative Art in Sângeorz-Băi, Romania. Between 2018-2019, the band playedat events such as BTLive @ Club Control, Libris Book and Music Festival, Filmul de Piatra # 12 - TĂȘULEASA CAMP Edition. In parallel, the band recorded their first studio album - Desculț. The material was launched in June 2020, at the Bistrița-Năsăud Museum Complex and online on streaming platforms. At the nomination of the Mastering the Music Business team, from2021 to 2023 the band is part of the #INEStalent program, initiated by the Gigmit platform and INES (Innovation Network of European Showcases).
The band is named after a legendary herb. The herb is known by a multitude of names. In Eastern European mythology the herb of the beasts in word-for-word translation, is a mysterious plant that unlocks padlocks. In France it is called Herbe du Pic - meaning theWoodpecker's Grass. The Germans know it as Springwurzel - that is the Crushing Grass; The Italians call it Sferacavallo-meaningUnshoe the horse; The Russians, Razriv-trava-meaning weeding grass;
